ABOUT US

Our Philosophy

BostonUVC created the VolleyBoston youth program with the mission to bringing all of our quality skilled sports training, and volleyball skills to the Boston and Greater Boston area. We believe that all children should have access to all of our programming. That’s why we created the BostonUVC Cares program. Every time you pay for your clinic you are supporting the mission of allowing mentors and coaches to bring the same quality clinics, camps, and equipment to children in after school programs in Boston schools and community centers. We want to foster an environment that dignifies families by providing affordable costs and opportunities for everyone.

Younger Start Ages & Age Appropriate Programming

Volleyball is now the most popular team sport for women in America. Most volleyball participation in New England begins in late middle school or high school. By beginning clinics with elementary school-aged participants we can begin implementing volleyball specific skills through a variety of fundamental movement skills (FMS). Athletes of all sports require a strong foundation of FMS to make them move swiftly, manipulate and control balls in play, and stabilize and move their body with good form. Longitudinal studies have found that fundamental movement skills (balance skills, locomotion skills, ball skills) proficiency observed early in life predicts subsequent fitness levels later in life (Lopes et al., 2011; Barnett et al., 2009) Vigorous bouts of jumping, skipping, throwing, and kicking need to be integrated into multifaceted fitness programs.

Healthy Fitness Habits & Positive Mentorship

The most effective role models for youth to maintain physically active lifestyles are adults who understand how to exercise, perform exercise themselves, and provide a nurturing environment. BostonUVC is unique in that is is skillfully designed with a team consisting of a collegiate level volleyball coach as well as a pediatric physical therapist and youth fitness specialist to bring the sport of volleyball to all ages. Warm ups, physical challenges, circuit sessions, scrimmages, fun games, and cool downs will be tailored to each age level while equipping participants into a higher state of athleticism and volleyball skill set. Each session will be lead by coaches, college level athletes, health professionals, and mentors who are prepared to run a high energy clinic in a positive environment for all participants.
